HOW WONDERFUL IT IS....

To have an intelligent child at home and how joyful it is to know that his intelligence is rewarded. Well, i'm so glad that finally i have got some worthy news to share with all my blog buddies.

My lil brother Ranjan(Vittal, as we lovingly call) has finally made it in the AMTI-The Association Of Mathematics Teachers of India examination and has bagged the ALL INDIA FIRST RANK .
As i'd started off with this post, it really is a very nice feeling to have such talented people around at home and it becomes even more special when more than one intelligent person is a part of the family. On a lighter note, it is actually tough to manage pretending as one of the intellectuals among them. (lol)

My uncle, an IIT-ian, his son(yet-to-be IIT-ian) , and the other(non IITian but equally talented) ppl all surrounding me....well....you can understand my position only if you were one among our family.
Morning 6.30, the time when i go through 'the metro plus' , 'the chennai times' or the 'friday review', This boy and his father would be seriously discussing maths!

...."hey vittal, nethiki anda formula vechu solve pannen le, adhuku nan oru easy solution kandupudichiten..." !
("@#$%^&*(*&%$$!%^#----->this is how i understnd their talks) " and they discuss the problem fr a couple of mins and then ...." idha naan appove sonnen" says vittal. Now for the fear of being questioned about something i like the least, i disappear from there!

Evening, the time i spend sitting on the sofa texting someone.... "inniki maths le 100/100 a?? super super!! will come my uncle's voice as soon as he comes back from work, and the boy again starts discussing a new problem for the day's (sorry, evening's) quota! Mannn!!!! i have seen ppl discussing answers after their exam...but even after scoring a centum ??? Thats called 'HEIGHT OF PADIPs-NESS' in our language!
... poor me....i leave the place again for the fear of being unanswerable to their questions...

Leave alone the mornings and evenings..One fine evening, the current goes off and all of us are sitting around a candle....my brother ASUSUAL asks a dumb question : "appa...inda candle edunaale perusaa eriyuthu???? "
Anybody else would have said, thiri perusa iruku. adaan....and coz its my uncle, you have nothing less to expect of him other than a well explained, detailed chemistry physics and mathematics oriented answer to it! Both of 'em discussing subjects even during a power cut may seem a little too much, but thats become enjoyable now, for all of us watching the 'awesome twosome' talking maths scince and numbers round the clock!

do you think this is it??? well, there are 100s of such stories that i could go on with :)

We(around 7 ppl at home) are watching a movie, some hero running faster than a moving train....my bro making mockery at that stupid scene(may be coz it was not his fav hero) ...and i'm wondering why my lil brother hasn't commented yet, there comes a shock of my life....once again..."appa, eppadi pa ivan train a vida vegamaa odraan?" and having read so many examples , you must know what his reply would have been.... " train ....man...distance...speed...kms...s=d/t...formula..calulations...." MY GOODNESS.....I had to leave the movie half way thru....again!!!

This is what i meant, it is actually tough handling such intelligent people at home :P:P

But never the less, the young genius at home is celebrating his happy moment and of'course i being his proud sister wanted to write this post right away, not missing the excitement to wear off!

Let me congratulate him through my blog along with all his friends and well wishers....A HEARTY CONGRATS BRO :) !!!!

TRACING UR MOBILE, IF STOLEN BY ANYONE

If u lose your mobile,

Got an interesting fact to share.. Nowadays each one of us carry Hi Fi
Mobile devices and always fear that it may be stolen.

Each mobile carries a unique IMEI i.e International Mobile Identity
No which can be used to track your mobile anywhere in the world.

This is how it works!!!!!!

1. Dial *#06# from your mobile.

2. Your mobile shows a unique 15 digit .

3. Note down this number anywhere but except your mobile as this is the number which will help to trace your mobile in case of a theft.

4. Once stolen you just have to mail this 15 digit IMEI no. to
cop@vsnl.net

5. No need to go to police.

6. Your Mobile will be traced within next 24 hrs via a complex system of GPRS and internet.

7. You will find where your hand set is being operated even in case your no is being changed.

PASS ON THIS VERY IMP MESSAGE TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES.

JUST FOR JOKE :-) :-) :-)

BEFORE MARRIAGE:

He: Yes. At last. It was so hard to wait.

She: Do you want me to leave?

He: No! Don't even think about it.

She: Do you love me?

He: Of course! Over and over!

She: Have you ever cheated on me?

He: No! Why are you even asking?

She: Will you kiss me?

He: Every chance I get.

She: Will you hit me?

He: Are you crazy! I'm not that kind of person!

She: Can I trust you?

He: Yes.

She: Darling!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

There was a Nebraska farmer who grew award-winning corn. Each year he entered his corn in the state fair where it won a blue ribbon...
One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors.
"How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?" the reporter asked.
"Why sir," said the farmer, "didn't you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn."
He is very much aware of the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbor's corn also improves.
So it is in other dimensions. Those who choose to be at peace must help their neighbors to be at peace. Those who choose to live well must help others to live well, for the value of a life is measured by the lives it touches. And those who choose to be happy must help others to find happiness for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all.

The lesson for each of us is this: if we are to grow good corn, we must help our neighbors grow good corn.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...DONT USE CELL PHONES AT HOSPITALS

TO ALL...... VERY IMPORTANT... ....

This is a real incident that happened in a local hospital in Bangalore , India . A 4 - year old girl was admitted due to leg fracture. As it was an open fracture, she had to undergo an operation to stitch the protruding bone back in place. Though it was quite a minor operation, she was hooked on to life support system, as a part of the process.

The doctors had to input some data prior to the operation to suit different conditions. Thereafter, the operation proceeded.. Half way through the process, the life support system suddenly went dead.

The culprit : -

Some one was using his/her hand-phone outside the operation theatre. And the frequency had affected the system.. They tried to track the person, but to no avail. The little girl, young and innocent as she was, died soon after.
Be compassionate! Do not use your hand phone / mobiles especially at any hospitals or within the Aircraft or any places where you are told not to use it... You might not be caught in the act, but you might have killed someone without knowing.
Sometimes it's a matter of Life & Death.....!! !

Please pass this to as many, since most of us are just not aware of the seriousness of this issue.

Last Word :

So friends, please avoid using your mobile phones in hospitals / petrol pumps / aircraft etc ... wherever it is mentioned no use of mobiles, go by the rules, it's a matter of life & death.

A tiny mail can save a life..

FRIENDS FOREVER...read on

In the walk of life you will find several people. Some are there with you only for a momentary phase while other walk the path of life with you for a considerable distance. Friends come and go. But it requires true courage and spirit to be friends forever and to walk the journey of life till the end. As a Jewish saying goes- "Who finds a faithful friend, finds a treasure". But it is not easy to find this treasure. Only very fortunate ones succeed in achieving it; once it is found try your best not to loose it. An anonymous author very aptly described friends forever as- "Some people come into our lives and quickly go.

Some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same." A true friend is someone who understands you even without your having to explain anything- someone who understands you and cares for you.

If you feel a pain in your heart when you see a tear in your friend's eye, if your friend is more happy than you to see you successful, then you must understand that you have found a friend forever. A true friend is someone with whom you do not have to make an effort to share your thoughts. The mental harmony between true friends comes naturally. If effort is at all required then it is not true friendship. People might claim to be your true friends. Declarations are easy to make. But it's only the person who is your friend forever, who will stand with you through the thick and the thin.

THE DONKEY STORY ...worth reading!

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
MORAL :
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less from people but more from God.

You have two choices... smile and close this page,
or pass this along to someone else to share the lesson .
God bless us all!

It is said this illusion was created by

Phillippe G.Schyns and Aude Oliva of the Univ. of Glasgow .

This proves that we may not be seeing what's actually there, all the time!!

WHAT'S ON TODAY's MENU # 4

Tomatoes are High in Vitamin C and Vitamin A. Some tomatoes are sweeter than others, depending on their ripeness and the variety of tomato. Use the ripest tomatoes you can. Added sugar will balance the natural acidity of the tomatoes, use more or less to taste.

Ingredients:-

1/2 gal. tomato juice
2 tbsp. sugar
3 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. salt Pinch black pepper (Adjust according to kids level)

Method:-

I GO CRAZY WHEN I HEAR THE WORD...

"CORN FLORENTINE"

I still remember the first time, Shalini(my best frnd) compelling me with a spoon full of this (never heard of dish) corn florentine, forcing me to taste it atleast once and then, poor gal, she had to order another one for herself after that! lol! And now, u ask me wat's my favourite continental dish, everybody who knows me well wud shout out this name 'corn florentine'.

Shalini, This is a really special post dedicated to you dear(lol). Among the so many very-spl-moments that we've had together trying out new dishes at new places, EDEN and corn florentine will always bring a smile on my face and ofcourse YOU for "all the .......memories" associated wid eden! :P :P

Anyways, here's some real gud stuff about the place and dish for ur information!

Eden,

Harrisons Hotel,

Nungambakkam

Tel: 42222777

This one’s not for those on a diet. Or, for someone trying to go on one. The Corn Florentine celebrates everything cheese. Nuggets of crisp corn and fragrant spinach fight for space in this creamy baked dish.

The base is made of cream, milk, butter (lots if it) and flour and once the corn and spinach go in, it is gratinated with cheese. The end result is a glorious stand-alone dish that makes for great comfort food. It is served with plain toast. And, Indianising this Continental dish a bit is the addition of garlic and pepper. If you are terribly health-conscious, they do a version with brown sauce! Also available at the Besant Nagar (24460777) and Anna Nagar (26221010) branches.

@suda: dont forget to try this next time! :)

Conversation with GOD so very beautiful...

God
Hello. Did you call me?

Me
Called you? No. Who is this?

God
This is GOD. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.

Me
I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now. I am in the midst of something.

God
What are you busy at? Ants are busy too.

Me
Don't know. But I can't find free time. Life has become hectic. It's rush hour all the time.

God
Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.

Me
I understand. But I still can't figure out. By the way, I was not expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.

God
Well I wanted to resolve your fight for time, by giving you some clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.

Me
Tell me, why has life become complicated now?

God
Stop analyzing life. Just live it. Analysis is what makes it complicated.

Me
Why are we then constantly unhappy?

God
Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You are worrying because you are analyzing. Worrying has become your habit. That's why you are not happy.

Me
But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?

God
Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.

Me
But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty.

God
Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.

Me
If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?

God
Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don't suffer. With that experience, their life become better not bitter.

Me
You mean to say such experience is useful?

God
Yes. In every term, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.

Me
But still, why should we go through such tests? Why can't we be free from problems?

God
Problems are Purposeful Roadblocks Offering Beneficial Lessons (to) Enhance Mental Strength. Inner strength comes from struggle and endurance, not when you are free from problems.

Me
Frankly in the midst of so many problems, we don't know where we are heading.

God
If you look outside, you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Looking outside, you dream. Looking inside, you awaken. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.

Me
Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving in the right direction. What should I do?

God
Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you. Knowing the road ahead is more satisfying than knowing your road ahead. You work with the compass. Let others work with the clock.

Me
In tough times, how do you stay motivated?

God
Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.

Me
What surprises you about people?

God
When they suffer they ask, "why me?" When they prosper, they never ask "Why me". Everyone wishes to have truth on their side, but few want to be on the side of the truth.

Me
Sometimes I ask, who am I, why am I here. I can't get the answer.

God
Seek not to find who you are, but to determine who you want to be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here. Create it. Life is not a process of discovery but a process of creation.

Me
How can I get the best out of life?

God
Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear
.

Me
One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.

God
There are no unanswered prayers. At times, the answer is NO.

Me
Thank you for this wonderful chat.

God
Well. Keep the faith and drop the fear. Don't believe your doubts and doubt your beliefs. Life is a mystery to solve not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that took our breath away

LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP QUOTES

1. It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return, But what is more
painful is to love someone and never find the courage
to let that person know how you feel.

2. A sad thing in life is when you meet someone who means a lot to you,
only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be
and you just have to let go.

3. The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with,
never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best
conversation you've ever had.

4. It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's
also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

5. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like
someone, and a day to love someone-but it takes a lifetime
to forget someone.

6. Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that
fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a
smile to make a dark day seem bright.

7. Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you
want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the
things you want to do.

8. Always put yourself in the other's shoes. If you feel that it hurts you,
it probably hurts the person too.

9. A careless word may kindle strife; a cruel word may wreck a life; a
timely word may level stress; a loving word may heal and bless.

10. The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything
they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

11. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, ends with a tear. When you
were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so that when you die, you're the one smiling
and everyone around you is crying

  • Red chilli pwd - 1/2 tsp

Serve hot with roti, paratha or naan.

Tomato puree:
Boil tomato in hot water and peel the skin. Now mash or grind the tomatoes in mixer grinder without adding any water. Cashewnut powder: Dry roast and make a fine powder. Paneer cubes: Sauté paneer cubes in 1 tsp of ghee or deep fry till they are golden brown and soak in warm water with pinch of salt for 10 mins.
